G530 TJ Cycling Team dominated the 2013 Lof Bakery Cycling Challenge after both their representatives in the masters and team category clinched their respective titles at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas yesterday.
G530 TJ Cycling Team was crowned overall champions in the team category after their top three cyclists combined for a time of 7:33:39:149.
Shahnon Hj Basman (2:31:11.849), Aiman Abdullah (2:31:12.785) and Ariffin Hashim (2:31:14.515) were ahead of second-placed team Anakpanyu Cycling Team with a time of 7:33:41.467, while last year’s champion Modesto Cycling Team B took bronze with a time of 7:33:44.110.
Their representative in the masters category, Shahnon Hj Basman, was the first to cross the line with a time of 2:31:11.849, while second-placed Ali Mustafa Hj Abdul Hamid from Kedayan Cycling Team (KCT) was only one second behind with the time of 2:31:12.261.
Mohd Nordin Hj Lamit from the Ministry of Primary Resources (MIPR) Cycling Team finished third in the event after recording a time of 2:31:12.375.
“It was a very tough and competitive race this year with all cyclists from the different teams in the country displaying good per formances - but I am very proud of my team for their achievement,” said G530 TJ Cycling Team’s manager Muhd Hasanuddin Abdullah Pijang in an interview with The Brunei Timesyesterday.
“They worked very hard for this tournament, preparing three months before the tournament.
“It was a well-deserved victory with all the cyclists in the team playing their part,” he added.
Over in the elite category, Mohd Fadulah Mohd Dani of Jati Racing Team was first with his time of 2:31:12.121. Fu Cheng Poi of Modesto Cycling Team B came in second with 2:31:12.291 followed by Mohd Aliuddin Hj Nordin of Anakpanyu Cycling Team on 2:31:12.372.
Al Waie Hj Aini of Team Rouleur claimed the Under-23 category with a time of 2:31:11.287 while the only other cyclist who competed in the category, Willey Ngo Siong Wui of Blue Sky Team, finished second with a time of 2:32:46.589.
The veteran category was won by Tutong Cycling Team TCT's Zainal Arfan Dato Hj Ahmad after crossing the line on 2:31:14.745.
Hj Samad Ismail of BLNG Hijau Cycling Team was second with a time of 2:31:23.829 while his team-mate Lu Voon Oi claimed third on 2:31:42.546.
The Minister of Industry and Primary Resources Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Hj Yahya Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar was presemy as guest of honour andgave away the prizes to the winners.
